Ethylene propylene rubber sealing materials for disinfection technology
Professional materials of pure quality
Ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) polymers are fully saturated, non-polar hydrocarbon-based elastomers. The geometry of these polymers gives them very good compatibility with polar fluids and polar solvents at higher temperatures.
This material includes:
- Very high chemical resistance
- Long-life in polar solvents, hot water, and steam
- Suitable for contact with alkaline cleaning fluids
- Well suited for most dairy applications and high-temperature water jets
- Material Technology Enhancement Potential
Our recommended grades of ethylene propylene rubber are peroxide vulcanized and contain very small amounts of softeners and handling aids, which minimizes potential leaching and reduces the risk of contamination. They have also been developed to have improved chemical and thermal stability and to meet FDA 21 CFR177.2600, 3-A, USP Class VI, cytotoxic (USP 87), NSF51, and some water specifications.
Application
For almost all types of applications, cleaning and disinfection processes are suitable
Typical uses are filling, dosing, pumps, line and flange gaskets, valves, quick release couplings, vessels, dissociators, homogenizers, centrifugal separators, and heat exchangers.
Products
O-rings, square seals, kantseal, flat seals, gaskets, and diaphragms, are also fiber-reinforced.
Ethylene propylene rubber can also be bonded to other materials and supplied as custom parts in almost any construction.
Standard fluoroelastomers optimized for steam environments (derived from the superior performance of fluoroelastomer materials)
Yoson Seal has optimized the performance of our fluoroelastomer material sequence so that it meets the specialized standards of the process industry.
The material exhibits
- Good high-temperature properties
- Compatibility with acidic clean-in-place (CIP) fluids, fatty foods, food-grade lubricants and oils
Products
O-rings, square seals, flat seals, gaskets, and diaphragms, are also available in fiber reinforced versions.
Viton can also be bonded to other materials and supplied as custom parts in virtually any construction.
Applications
Fluoroelastomers are particularly suitable for processes in contact with high-fat media, such as oils and greases at high temperatures.
Typical applications include mechanical seals, centrifugal separators, dissociators, pumps, vessels, valves, heat exchangers, etc.
Yoson FFKM – the best of the best in elastomer seals
Outstanding chemical resistance
Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) materials are copolymers of terpolymers in which all hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms. The absence of hydrogen in the molecular chain gives it greatly improved chemical resistance and heat resistance. In the cross-linked molecular chains, they combine the resilience and sealing power of elastomers with the chemical inertness and thermal stability of PTFE.
Unparalleled operating characteristics
It has the broadest product line on the market today and can be customized to meet specific process requirements. The material is virtually completely inert and performs well in a wide range of chemical media, including organic and inorganic oxides, acids, bases, amines, esters, and vapors, with continuous operating temperatures from – 2 5 °C/ – 1 3 °F to 325 °C/ 617 °F.
Improved productivity
FFKM products meet the most stringent standards, and they are ideal for sealing corrosive solvent-based cleaning fluids. Longer seal life results in less downtime and increased productivity.
Applications
FFKM is the ultimate solution for elastomer seals in corrosive chemicals and extreme temperatures and is recommended for use in applications where the material is similar to ethylene-propylene rubber or fluoroelastomer, but with extremely corrosive media.
Products
Capable of being made in a variety of standard and custom shapes. What’s more, we have developed a number of creative, low-cost solutions that minimize the amount of perfluoroelastomer used.
